It simply involves any activity that influences an individual’s or group decisions, views and actions. As a leader I would apply problem solving skills which involve identifying issues that need solutions and proceed to look for an action plan to resolve them. I would be competent and trustworthy so as to greatly impact the decisions of those that I work with. Last but not least, open and adequate communication since advocacy involves voicing out others views and expectations (Hofmeyer, 2020).Communication should be consistent and the messages clear and precise to achieve the intended purpose. In my fourth year of study in nursing, I was privileged to lead a group of six students in our clinical training. I was excited at first and I kept on reminding the rest not to be late for any training. I also ensured that I passed on information from our nursing instructors exactly as it is to prevent confusion and chaos. There are various challenges that arose such as inadequate readiness and knowledge, deficient practical skills and members felt that they are not being treated well. I was afraid of being outspoken and voicing out our challenges to the nurse instructors, eventually I was not able to handle the pressure and gave up the leadership role. If given the chance again, I would focus more on the needs of my group members and present their challenges without fear to the instructing team.ReferencesHofmeyer, A. (2020).
